Lab271 is the innovation lab of Schuberg Philis, a Netherlands-based mission-critical IT company. The lab is named after its address, Boeing Avenue 271 in Schiphol-Rijk. 271 is also the first three digits of e, which is why the growth curve keeps turning up in our branding.

This page indexes the public part of our work: the tooling, integrations and experiments that come out of the lab. We write about them at stories.lab271.io. Highlights

labs-slidecue

Control a PowerPoint deck from your phone or tablet. Scan a QR code to connect, then drive the slides with speaker notes and a timer on the remote.

labs-pen-plotter

Browser-based control for a GRBL pen plotter. Import an SVG, preview the pen path, then stream the G-code through a gateway daemon that keeps plotting even if the browser goes away.

git-worktree

A complete git-worktree workflow in bash, with tab completion and virtualenv handling. A write-up on stories.lab271.io walks through it.

Home Assistant integrations

How the lab space runs itself: custom integrations for the Midas M32 mixer, the networked projectors and the room lighting.

OBS without the complexity. Put one or two capture card feeds side by side on an ultrawide display, and switch between them with a keypress.

Can a WebAssembly runtime stand in for a container on serverless-style workloads? Each experiment tests one hypothesis and measures it on real hardware.

MVL

The Maximum Verifiable Language. If a machine writes the code, design the language for the compiler instead: eleven properties proven at compile time, in the smallest grammar that can carry them.

MDD

Markdown Does Docs. Bidirectional sync between markdown-in-git and Confluence, SharePoint and Office, around one typed document IR.
